The USA team’s training camp began on December 12 and has already generated a lot of buzz.
Of the 18 players selected, the one who has stolen the show is Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever star who was only able to play 13 games due to injuries. Now, back on the court, fans have mixed reactions about her play.
Opinions divided over Clark’s defense
After recovering from a groin strain and ankle sprain suffered during the 2025 WNBA season, Caitlin assured fans that she was “100% back” at training camp.
Her last appearance was on July 15, missing the All-Star Game, where she was captain of one of the teams, and the playoffs with the Fever.
Almost five months after her last game, Clark returned to the court, but fans noticed difficulties with CC’s defense.
A video of Paige Bueckers scoring a three-pointer with a crossover move over Caitlin had already sparked this type of commentary. Now, a new clip of Kelsey Plum calling for the ball before attacking and beating Clark’s defense has given fans something to talk about:
“Can Clark try to play defense one time?” asked one of them. “MedioCCre getting cooked on Day 2 is laughable,” said another. “Mane she seen CC guarding her and immediately ask for the rock,” commented a third.
However, other fans showed their support and defended Clark: “Good defense, just a good job by KP,” said one. “This is also C’s first time back playing at full strength. Besides a little pickup and rehab for months now… girls gotta get lungs back,” wrote another fan. “Y’all will do anything to try and make CC look bad. Great coverage, better shot,” said another user.
Meanwhile, Clark’s return to the court has also raised expectations for the 2026 season, with hopes that the former Iowa player’s recovery will allow her to lead the Fever to the pinnacle of competitive success while continuing to solidify her career.
Training camp will take place December 12-14 in Durham, North Carolina.
