Bayern legend blasts Real Madrid, claiming they are the most unpopular club in Europe

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich is heating up. The Germans are stoking the fire. After Matthaus’ criticism of Vinicius, another former player of the German team is now lashing out at the Spanish team.

Markus Babbel, former Bayern and Liverpool player, among others, was asked for his opinion about Real Madrid and the now commentator did not hesitate to criticize the Spanish club harshly. “Real Madrid is the most unpleasant club in Europe and it would be great if Bayern went through,” he told Sky90.

And he added: “Their behavior in recent years is, in my opinion, extremely unsportsmanlike. It no longer has anything to do with fair play and I have the feeling that they think they are superior to others, they see themselves as someone better. That annoys me a lot, it generates a total antipathy towards them.”

Babbel recalled when Real Madrid did not attend the Ballon d’Or gala after Vinicius did not win it: “If one of their players does not win the Ballon d’Or, then we as a team are not going to boycott the event. I find it a lack of respect towards everyone else and that’s why the club has lost so much respect for me. I just find them incredibly unpleasant.”

And, as Matthäus did, the former footballer does not hesitate to criticise Vinicius: “They have some players in their ranks that I don’t like. Vinicius, when I see how he plays football, the talent he has, and then when I see him fall down and roll 14 times with every move, I just don’t like it.”
