Barcelona and Fermin have reached an agreement for the renewal of the player’s contract until 2031. Both parties had begun negotiations a few weeks ago and now the agreement has been reached whereby the player extends by two years the commitment he had with the club. The negotiations were brief, as an agreement was reached quickly.
The club has improved the midfielder’s financial conditions in view of the excellent performance he is having this season. The club’s sporting management was aware that it had to increase his salary in order to reward his good work and, at the same time, prevent a hypothetical departure of the player in the face of interest from another club.
It should not be forgotten that Chelsea tried to sign the player in the last summer transfer window. They even made an unofficial offer to the Blaugrana club of 40 million euros, but Deco did not even want to respond to it, considering it clearly insufficient, as has been demonstrated in view of the level exhibited by the player so far this season. What has not been modified is the release clause, which will remain at 500 million euros.This is the third time in two and a half years that the club has improved Fermin’s contract, taking into account the progress that this player is showing, who after spending a season at Linares has become a key player in Flick’s team, as well as being an international with the Spanish national team.
The first renewal took place in August 2023, when he signed a contract until 2027. In October 2024, he signed a new agreement that tied him to the club until 2029. Now he is signing for another two years. He is expected to sign his new contract this week.
