Analyst predicts Shedeur Sanders is done in Cleveland after this season: “Nobody owes you a chance”

Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has received a gloomy prognosis regarding his future with the Cleveland Browns just days before his first career NFL start. On Friday’s episode of “The Right Time,” sports analyst Bomani Jones offered a dark prediction for the Colorado alum, suggesting his time in Cleveland is already ticking away.

“He can’t come back to the Browns after this season unless he is lights out for the rest of the year,” Jones declared. “Something about that relationship does not feel good. The staff does not seem invested in him in any sort of way, which means he probably has to go somewhere else to get this done.”

The ominous take comes as Sanders prepares to lead the Browns against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday afternoon. The rookie is getting the nod after starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel remains in concussion protocol following the team’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week.

Bomani’s stark warning to Shedeur

Sanders’ NFL debut in that game was far from the dream scenario fans hoped for. stepping in for the injured Gabriel, he delivered an underwhelming performance that highlighted his uphill battle. Jones noted that the league is unforgiving, regardless of a player’s background.

“This league is not about giving people chances. They give people jobs,” Jones said. “You can seize an opportunity, but nobody owes you a chance.”

Sanders’ path to this moment proves that point. Once projected as a first-round talent, he slid to the fifth round of the NFL Draft and began the season buried as the No. 4 quarterback on the Browns’ depth chart.

His opponent this Sunday is one of Sanders’ biggest supporters

Despite the skepticism surrounding his future, Sanders has at least one high-profile supporter on the opposing sideline this weekend. Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith expressed his excitement for the rookie ahead of the matchup.

“I’m happy for my guy, man,” Smith said during a press conference. “A guy who I’ve been talking to for a long time, and just happy to see him getting a shot. But unfortunately, it’s against us.”

The two quarterbacks will face off when the Raiders host the Browns on Sunday, with kickoff set for the afternoon. For Sanders, it may be more than just a game; if Jones’ prediction holds true, it could be the beginning of a desperate audition to save his NFL career.
