Alexander Zverev arrived at the 2026 Mexican Open with his mind focused on the competition, but he experienced an unexpected moment off the court that made him smile in a different way. In Acapulco, he joined food influencer Roberto Morales, known as RobeGrill, to prepare grilled fish, a traditional dish that allowed him to connect with Mexican culture from a new angle.

Zverev wielded his racket like a magic wand.

With curiosity and good humor, the German got involved in the cooking. Between laughs, he used his racket as a “magic wand,” while the ingredients seemed to mix themselves. The grill, designed in the shape of a racket, added a playful nod to his identity as a professional tennis player and created a relaxed atmosphere that rubbed off on Morales and everyone present.

The experience became even richer when he tasted two typical Mexican drinks: hibiscus water, made from flowers, water, and sugar, and horchata, a blend of rice, cinnamon, water, and sugar. Between sips, Morales asked which one he preferred, a choice that sparks friendly debate among fans. Zverev went with the hibiscus water, showing that he appreciated its refreshing and slightly tangy flavor.

On the court, the moments were more intense: he debuted with a win over Corentin Moutet (6-2, 6-4), but later fell in a tight match against Miomir Kecmanovi (6-3, 6-7(3), 7-6(4)). Still, in doubles alongside Brazilian Marcelo Melo, he shone all the way to the final, establishing himself as one of the stars of the tournament’s doubles competition.

In the end, between the kitchen and the court, Zverev experienced Acapulco in a different way: with curiosity, fun, and the chance to discover details that go beyond the scoreboard.
