Alex Vesia’s wife Kayla speaks for first time since baby’s tragedy: ‘We try to get through it every day’

The Dodgers‘ back-to-back championship brought happiness to the organization and the fans, but it was not enough to heal the open wound of Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, who went through a painful last quarter of 2025 after the loss of their first baby. With the start of 2026, the Vesias are cautiously reaching out to the public to vent alongside the people of Los Angeles who have shown them support.

Let’s remember that on the eve of the start of the World Series, just one day before, the pitcher temporarily withdrew from the team because he had to focus fully on a “family problem”. It was on October 24 when the franchise informed the fans that its pitcher was leaving the roster in solidarity and because the priority was his family.

Days later it was revealed that the Vesia couple had suffered the tragedy of losing their first child, a girl they were expecting with much love. It was devastating for both of them, especially for Kayla, the mother, who wanted to start this year with a video on TikTok to share a little of her experience and in an attempt to get out of the depression she is in.

I don’t know how much I’m going to share. I don’t know. I don’t know the details, but I do know that I want to share, and if that can help someone going through the same thing feel like they’re not alone

Despite having her heart broken, Kayla confided to followers who tuned into the stream to comment that you are never prepared for the death of a child, that you don’t even think about it. She longed to hold her baby, but not in such a tragic situation.

During the final stretch of 2025, she set about reviewing the messages received from Dodgers fans, including members of the Los Angeles community, to join in their grief. In response to the outpouring of love the Vesia family has received, from October until now, Kayla wanted to make the video to thank them in person.

At this moment I don’t have much to say, just that I’m really grateful to you for showing so much love and support during this time. I don’t know what it will all be like going forward, but I just wanted to stop by and get in touch with you and most of all say “thank you”

For the pitcher, it is a hard, painful process. Like her, he is going through a trance from his paternal side. Excited to have married Kayla in 2024 and having reached the World Series against the Blue Jays, Vesia was looking forward to the birth of his baby. After the tragedy, Alex has also dedicated himself to caring for his wife’s grief, so he lived an exhausting end of 2025 emotionally and mentally.
