After her defeat at Indian Wells, Mirra Andreeva explodes: “Fuck you all!”

Mirra Andreeva, ranked eighth in the WTA, will not be able to defend her Indian Wells title. The reigning champion fell to Katerina Siniakova (world No. 44) 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3. It is her third consecutive defeat in which an opponent has come from a set down to beat her. It already happened to her in Dubai against Amanda Anisimova and in Doha against Victoria Mboko.

The young Russian tennis player, who in 2025 became the third youngest player to win the California tournament at the age of 17, left the court frustrated by the defeat. Her anger was evident when she turned to the crowd and shouted: “F*** you all”. Before that, she had already taken it out on her racket, which she slammed several times against the ground. Andreeva had seen herself go 3-2 up with a break in the third set, but then dropped four in a row to be eliminated.

Andreeva apologised afterwards in a press conference for this reaction: “I was going through a lot of emotions after the defeat. I’m not proud of how I handled it. It’s something I have to work on”.

The 2025 WTA 1000 Dubai champion was keen to clarify that these words were not directed at anyone in particular: “They were towards myself, towards everyone in general. After losing I get very angry, so sometimes I say those things to myself. It was just anger coming out, a lot of emotions. It wasn’t really directed at anyone“.
