You won’t believe what this former champion says Terence Crawford needs to crush Canelo Álvarez

One of the fights that generates the most anticipation this year is the fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford at the end of this year. There is no doubt that it will be a spectacle to see two of the best pound-for-pound fighters and this will generate a great audience.

Under this scenario, Crawford is expected to move up from 154 to 168 pounds to face the Mexican boxer who will first face William Scull on May 3, a fight where he will seek to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Crawford is given keys to beat “Canelo”

Many believe that it will be a major weight disadvantage for Terence Crawford, but others think it can work in his favor. Former IBF lightweight champion Mickey Bey does not believe that “Canelo’s” challenger should come into the fight too heavy.

In fact, he states that he can win by decision even if he comes in at a weight approaching 165 pounds, he told MillCity Boxing.

In my opinion, I wouldn’t come in heavy. I’d come in at 165 and at the same weight for the fight. 165 or 168. “Whatever he feels good at sparring multiple times, that’s what I’d come in at. 168-171, I’d stay within that range. That’s the only factor, him not being too slow. 165 and fight anywhere at the same weight. He’ll probably be 165 or 170 when he fights. He can make 160 very easy or 154, he can make.”

“So, he can come in at whatever, like Floyd at 154. With Crawford, when he’s in top shape, he’s probably going to be in the 160s in camp. So, he might as well stay there. In top shape, he’s probably going to be in the low to mid-160s. So, he ain’t going to have to do nothing. I got Crawford by decision.”, Bey continued.

Bey feels the same way that Crawoford shouldn’t rehydrate to get to 170 pounds because it might take away his speed.
