Yankees remember Juan Soto to motivate themselves in the playoffs

It’s funny to realize the turns that life takes, especially in sports. When the Mets beat the Yankees to the signing of Juan Soto, there was a lot of laughter in Queens. Now that Carlos Mendoza‘s team was left out of the playoffs, it is the Bronx Bombers who released a video implying that they were better off without the Dominican outfielder.

Aaron Boone‘s pinstripes made it to the postseason and on Tuesday, September 30, they played Game 1 of the Wild Card Round against the Red Sox. In contrast, the Mets won the offseason, yes, they got Soto, and then what? It seems to have been of no use to them, as their 2025 ended early with their star signing.

Yankees video shows Juan Soto striking out

In the images of the video, narrated by announcer Ryan Ruocco, there is a phrase that resonates: “sometimes change is exactly what is needed”. While Ruocco utters these words, the video showed Soto striking out as a Mets player, followed by a clip of Cody Bellinger hitting a home run at Yankee Stadium

This visual blow is not only a reminder of the rivalry between the New York teams, but also of Soto’s decision to leave the Yankees for a million-dollar contract with the Mets. Soto’s departure sparked debates about whether the city belongs to the Mets or Yankees and, with the pinstripes still in the running, the answer seems to lean toward the Bronx.

Miami Marlins left the New York Mets without a postseason

Last weekend, the Mets experienced a bitter end to the 2025 Major League Baseball season when they lost 4-0 to the Miami Marlins, a result that sealed their elimination from MLB Playoff contention. Carlos Mendoza’s team failed to recover from a second half of the campaign marked by inconsistency

In the last game of the calendar, the Mets were dominated by the work of starter Edward Cabrera, who pitched five innings with just two hits allowed and seven strikeouts. It was a harsh reality check for the Queens team, who will now have to wait until next year for another chance.
