Netflix turned to recognizable names — with familiar faces and voices — to headline its first broadcast of the 2026 NFL season.
The producers behind some of the most notable halftime shows featuring artists such as Beyoncé and Mariah Carey will add another performance to their impressive résumé. This time, however, the stage will be set internationally.
That is why Netflix and the NFL selected one of the most popular pop groups of the last few decades: the Jonas Brothers, who will provide the musical entertainment during the matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in Australia.
Why will the Jonas Brothers perform during the 49ers vs. Rams halftime show?
Halftime shows are not usually common during season-opening games, but the matchup between San Francisco and Los Angeles will be an exception. The NFL decided to bring in the Jonas Brothers for the second game of Week 1 and give the new season a special opening.
The group’s selection may seem unexpected at first glance. The brothers have no direct connection to either franchise: they are not from San Francisco or Los Angeles, but rather from New Jersey. In addition, they will be performing more than 10,000 miles away from their hometown, at Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground.
However, the explanation is simple: the Jonas Brothers are one of the most successful pop bands of recent years. The group has won a Grammy Award, achieved 51 No. 1 placements on Billboard charts, and sold millions of records worldwide.
That global impact was enough for the NFL and Netflix to choose them as the stars of the halftime show for a historic game.

What time will the 49ers vs. Rams halftime show take place?
The game between the 49ers and Rams will kick off at 8:35 p.m. ET (5:35 p.m. PT / 10:35 a.m. AEST). The NFL has not yet announced an official time for the Jonas Brothers’ performance, as it will depend on how the game unfolds.
The show will begin once the players head to the locker rooms during halftime. Therefore, the exact start time may vary depending on the pace of the game, the number of points scored, and the length of the first half.
A reasonable estimate places the start of the performance between 10:45 and 11:00 p.m. ET, although the time needed to set up the stage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground could slightly alter the schedule.
