The murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and MLB joining the outpouring of condolences following the tragedy.

Reiner’s professional life spanned multiple roles, including actor, producer, screenwriter, and film director. His body of work includes critically acclaimed films such as The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), A Few Good Men (1992), and The Bucket List (2007), while more recently his name had been associated with the success of the series The Bear.

Rob Reiner, 78, also had another lifelong passion: baseball. Born in New York, his first exposure to the sport came through the New York Yankees.

“My dad took me to my first game… It’s 1951 at Yankee Stadium, and it’s a doubleheader. The Yankees were playing the Washington Senators. It was Mickey Mantle’s first year in the Majors and Joe DiMaggio’s last,” the acclaimed director recalled in an interview several years ago.

Although he was born in New York, Reiner’s true love was Los Angeles, where in 2023 he marked 60 years as a season-ticket holder for the current MLB champions. That milestone prompted the Dodgers themselves to post a message on X expressing their condolences.

“The Dodgers express our deep sorrow and share our condolences over the passing of longtime fan Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.”

Reiner’s presence was a familiar sight at Dodger Stadium, not as a fleeting Hollywood trend, but as someone driven by a genuine love for baseball. Major League Baseball also released a statement mourning his passing.

“We are shocked and saddened by the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. An Emmy Award-winning actor and Academy Award-nominated director, Reiner was an avid baseball fan. The Bronx native and Los Angeles resident was a longtime Dodgers fan. Reiner made numerous appearances at ballparks around the country and often inserted baseball references into his films. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones,” MLB shared on X.

Who was responsible for the death of Rob Reiner?

Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, were found dead sunday afternoon at their Brentwood residence, suffering fatal stab wounds. The couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, discovered the scene upon arriving at the home.

On Monday, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed the arrest of Nick Reiner (32), the couple’s son, who has struggled with substance addiction. He has been booked on murder charges and remains in custody.
