The Australian Open has been forced to implement its extreme heat policy for the first time this year, which means that all outdoor matches are suspended and only retractable roof stadiums can be played in.
To apply the rule, four parameters are taken into account: air temperature, radiant heat, humidity and wind speed
The scale has to be above five points for the supervisor to make the decision to suspend the game. When the regulations are applied, 10 minutes of rest are granted at the end of each set and the cover remains in place until the end of the matches even if weather conditions improve
