Fortunately, the 19-year-old fighter Isis Sio has shown very positive signs in her health after suffering a brutal knockout during her bout at an event held in San Bernardino, California.

Sio first absorbed a series of blows to the body before receiving a combination of left and right punches, five in total, to the head, until she ultimately collapsed on the canvas.

The referee approached her, but she was no longer responsive. Medical personnel rushed in to stabilize her and immediately transport her to the hospital. She had to be removed from the ring on a stretcher.

It was later reported that she had been placed in a medically induced coma to prevent her life from being at risk while the injured area of her brain, which had absorbed the severe punishment from her opponent, could reduce its swelling.

This was her third fight; she held a 1-2 record and, very likely, after this complication in her physical condition, she may not return to competition. She must prioritize her well-being and take care of herself moving forward.

Good news regarding Isis Sio’s health

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, encouraging news emerged regarding the young boxer’s health, as ProBox TV stated the previous afternoon that she has shown considerable improvement.

We have some promising news to share. Isis is no longer in a medically induced coma, has been taken off the ventilator, and is now breathing on her own.

We are awaiting further updates from her medical team.

The statement read.

It is worth recalling that shortly after the seriousness of Isis’s injury became known following the brutal knockout she sustained, her opponent, 21-year-old Jocelyn Camarillo, expressed deep concern over what was happening to her rival.

Now, with this significant improvement in her condition, where she is already able to breathe on her own, it represents relief for the fighter herself and for her family, who had been extremely worried about their daughter.

It is well known that boxing is a high-risk sport and that in every fight there are very high chances of suffering a health complication that could become serious.

For that reason, fighters need to train to the highest standard so they can withstand the tremendous blows they endure in each battle.

Proper preparation, discipline, and physical conditioning are essential elements that allow them to face such demanding exchanges inside the ring without compromising their safety more than necessary, given the inherent danger that always surrounds the sport and every single exchange of punches that takes place during a professional contest.

Even so, situations like this serve as a stark reminder of the risks involved and the importance of medical supervision before, during, and after each bout for every athlete involved.
