US Open semifinal prices plummet without Carlos Alcaraz: $19!

The first consequences of Carlos Alcaraz’s absence from the men’s singles draw at the US Open (the player from Murcia was defeated on Tuesday in the quarterfinals by Ben Shelton) are starting to be felt this Friday in the semifinals. Tickets, which initially were priced at $300, can be purchased on different platforms for as little as $19. 

And the first semifinal between Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov has not sparked any kind of interest among the New York crowd (the women’s doubles final had been played earlier) and has left the stands of Arthur Ashe Stadium empty, the largest court in the world with a capacity of more than 20,000 spectators.
