Tyson Fury makes major announcement as fans call him out for falling into old habits

Tyson Fury had a chance to put a legendary career to bed on the highest of notes. His biggest issue? He ran into arguably the toughest heavyweight fighter since the turn of the millennium. Fury squared off twice against Oleksandr Usyk and lost both times.

Losing to Usyk shouldn’t taint anyone’s legacy, but Fury’s insistence that he won both fights did not give him a great public image. What also didn’t sit right with fans was Fury announcing his retirement, something that he’s done several times in the past and has never been true.

On Tuesday, Fury made an interesting post on his Instagram page, posing as James Bond and saying “The Gypsy King is back and I have a license to thrill“. Given that it’s April Fools’ Day, no one really made much of it.

Tyson Fury claims he won’t drink alcohol for all of April

Perhaps more interestingly though, one of Fury’s Instagram stories had him claiming he’s doing “dry April”.

April 1st. Today is the first day I’m doing dry April. Not that I’m a massive drinker anyway. [Have] a beer here and again. Gonna do dry April, who’s joining me? Let me know.

Fury not drinking alcohol might be more unbelievable than him coming out of retirement, at least in the eyes of many fans. Fury himself has talked about his struggles with excessive drinking, and fans won’t quickly forget about him collapsing outside of a bar last year.

The heavyweight has mentioned he’s now a bit of a lightweight whenever he does drink, which isn’t even close to how much he was consuming before. For the meantime, at least for April, he will be sober and still retired until further notice.
