Travis Hunter sparks outrage with Shohei Ohtani diss: MLB fans fire back

Travis Hunter just found himself in the middle of a social media storm after making a bold claim about his role in the NFL-at the expense of baseball’s biggest star, Shohei Ohtani. The Colorado Buffaloes’ two-way phenom didn’t hold back when asked whether his job was tougher than Ohtani’s, and his answer sent MLB fans into a frenzy.

“Probably me, what I do in football [is harder] because it is a lot on your body,” Hunter stated confidently. “Ohtani, he’s a great player, but you gotta do a lot in football.”

That take did not sit well with baseball fans, who quickly took to social media to drag Hunter for his comments. “That’s the dumbest take I’ve heard in a very long time,” one fan blasted.

That was just the first shot

“Let’s put him up against Ohtani to bat. Then let’s have him pinch-run and try to steal since he won’t be able to get on base any other way,” another mocked. “Hit a baseball at 100 mph, then get back with me,” one critic shot back.

Others pointed out that comparing the two sports was pointless. “Two different sports, can’t really compare. Both are unicorns,” one reasonable fan noted. But many weren’t feeling so diplomatic, with one user flat-out calling Hunter “a clown” and another reminding him that he hasn’t even played a down of pro football yet.

Ohtani is showing why he is a dual threat himself

Meanwhile, as Hunter’s comments were setting the internet ablaze, Ohtani was letting his bat do the talking. In his first spring training appearance with the Los Angeles Dodgers-against his former team, the Angels-the Japanese superstar wasted no time making a statement, hitting a home run in his very first game.

As Ohtani gears up for another dominant season, he has his sights set on a second straight World Series appearance and a long-awaited return to the mound. Hunter, on the other hand, might want to focus on proving himself in the NFL before taking shots at one of baseball’s greatest talents.
