Tom Brady’s $37.5M salary outshines Michael Strahan, Tony Romo, and more in broadcasting

Tom Brady‘s jump from NFL icon to media titan has vaulted him to the summit of sports broadcasting pay, but the names immediately below him on the overall television earnings list might leave even avid fans scratching their heads.

Brady, whose NFL legacy spans six Super Bowl wins with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, signed a groundbreaking 10year contract with Fox Sports that guarantees him $375 million as the network’s lead NFL analyst.

That works out to roughly $37.5 million a year, making it the highest annual broadcaster salary in history, according to multiple industry reports.

The deal, which began as Brady transitioned from football into the broadcast booth in 2024, doesn’t just pay him for calling games.

Network executives and media analysts have framed it as a broader role that positions Brady as a face of Fox‘s NFL coverage, a strategic branding move that leverages his superstar name to attract viewers and advertising dollars.

As Brady continues his first full season in the booth alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, his agent Don Yee confirmed that Brady intends to fulfill the entirety of the 10year pact, signaling that the Hall of Famer is settled into his new role and looking forward to its evolution.

While Brady‘s salary dwarfs typical broadcaster paychecks, the list of top earners across all television, not just sports, shows how rare his compensation level is.

Celebrity chefs and TV figures cluster just behind Brady

It might come as a surprise to sports fans, but the second tier of highestpaid broadcasters isn’t filled with former NFL quarterbacks or veteran playbyplay voices.

Instead, celebrity culinary personalities and mainstream TV hosts sit immediately below Brady on the overall earnings ladder.

Celebrity chefs Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, and Gordon Ramsay each earn around $33 million per year, firmly in the runnerup group behind Brady.

These culinary personalities have built longrunning franchises across Food Network and other lifestyle programming, with multishow deals and production credits contributing to their significant salaries.

Behind the chefs is a mix of entertainment and talkshow stalwarts. Comedian and satirist John Oliver reportedly earns about $30 million annually, while television judge Judy Sheindlin, known widely as Judge Judy, pulls in a similar figure from her Amazon streaming projects.

In the world of sports broadcasting, Michael Strahan and Tony Romo stand out as top earners after Brady.

Strahan, the former New York Giants star, commands roughly $26 million per year, splitting time as a cohost on Good Morning America and as an NFL analyst for Fox.

Romo, who transitioned from Dallas Cowboys quarterback to CBS lead analyst, also earns a highly lucrative salary, reportedly in the high 20million range annually. Their deals illustrate the premium networks place on former athletes with proven oncamera charisma and football insight.
