Tom Brady gets candid about golfing With McIlroy: “Rory kicks my *ss”

Tom Brady may be the GOAT of football, but when it comes to golf, even he admits he’s no match for Rory McIlroy. Appearing on The Late Late Show, the $300 million NFL legend gave a refreshingly honest take on what it’s like to hit the links with the now Grand Slam-winning golfer-and revealed how humbling the experience can be.

“Rory kicks my a all the time whenever we play, obviously,” Brady said with a laugh, confirming that yes, he’s teed off with McIlroy, Shane Lowry, their dads, and his own golf-loving father.

“It was one of the great highlights of my life to be on a golf course with my dad,” the seven-time Super Bowl champ added, calling the whole outing “a fellowship.”

On Rory’s triumph at The Masters

While Brady is no stranger to legendary performances, even he was blown away by McIlroy’s emotional triumph at The Masters last month-Rory’s first win at Augusta and the long-awaited capstone to his career Grand Slam.

“It was incredible to watch,” Brady said, noting he’s shared time at Augusta with McIlroy before. “I’m sure he appreciated that win more than any other win in his life because of how hard it was. Not because it was easy.”

The right attitude, according to Brady

Brady, ever philosophical, praised McIlroy for overcoming past heartbreaks, sharing a lesson from his own playbook: “Without failing, you don’t appreciate winning as much.” Reflecting on his own journey, he added, “Sometimes what you think is the worst thing in life ends up being the best thing-if you have the right attitude.”

Between golf trips to Ireland and showing love for a fellow sports icon, Brady proved once again that even legends have heroes-and sometimes, they completely outdrive you.

Would you pay to watch a Brady-McIlroy rematch?
