Tom Brady explains how his NFL career helped him excel as a broadcaster

After more than two decades showcasing his talent on NFL fields, Tom Brady retired in February 2023, ending one of the most successful professional careers in the world.

Unsurprisingly, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has stayed in touch with the sport and has shown that he continues with an old habit: being the best at what he does.

Brady reveals his preparation as a broadcaster

After his retirement, TB12 became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and joined the Fox team as a commentator and broadcaster in 2024. However, especially in the beginning, this latest job was quite a challenge.

His commentary was monotonous and harsh as he narrated the game from a familiar perspective: that of a quarterback. Over time, as the games went by and he found his place, Brady loosened up and began to improve his delivery at the microphone in his second year as a broadcaster, something that fans and co-workers noticed and highlighted.

However, this situation did not happen overnight, of course. In his weekly newsletter, 199, Brady revealed that he “wanted to be faster, more incisive, and feel more comfortable in the booth,” so he worked hard to improve in his new profession.

“I wanted to feel better at picking my spots and knocking it out of the park with just enough of the most useful information at the right time. Like everything I put my heart into, I wanted to be the best I could be; not just for myself, but for my teammates and the fans, as well,” wrote the five-time Super Bowl MVP.

In addition, in the weekly newsletter, the NFL legend commented that he approached broadcasting in the same way he once prepared to take on his role as QB:

“I watched a lot of tape back from last season, again just like I did when I was a quarterback. I got advice from friends whose opinions I respected and from other colleagues whose experience I admired. I changed a bit about how I prepare for games and reorganized the information I have at my disposal over the course of these weeks,” added the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback.

Meanwhile, Tom is now preparing for the final week of the regular season, but after the playoffs, there is no doubt about TB12’s plans: to continue learning and improving for his third year as a broadcaster, as he has always done.
