Tom Brady became the greatest player in NFL history. He played in ten Super Bowls, winning seven of them, six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers toward the end of his career.

To put that into perspective, some franchises have never even reached a single championship game. Because of that and the commanding presence he displayed on the field, no one can match him or even come close.

Now that Brady is retired and working as a Fox commentator, while occasionally making appearances in events such as the Fanatics Flag Football Classic on Saturday, March 21, 2026, he appears to be enjoying this new phase of his life

After once again experiencing the unique feeling of being around the game, the spark was reignited, leading him to consider the possibility of returning to the NFL. On that matter, the former quarterback revealed that he asked the league whether he could come back as a player.

The retirement of the seven-time Vince Lombardi Trophy winner came in 2023 after a 23-year career in the league. He had initially retired the previous year but chose to return for one more season filled with unforgettable moments on the field.

Tom Brady’s comments about a possible return to play

In a recent interview with CNBC, the former signal-caller explained that he wanted to understand the NFL’s policy regarding being an active player while also holding minority ownership in a team.

They don’t like that idea very much.”… “We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired.

Brady said.

According to league rules, any active player is prohibited from holding an ownership stake in a franchise. If someone wishes to return to playing, they would need to relinquish their ownership before signing with any team.

If anything, that game reconfirmed to me that I’m very happy in my retirement.

Brady expressed,

I’m a minority owner. So, when you’re that, there’s really no job description. I don’t have really a daily role.”…”You know, my phone call is always available to everybody who needs it. I want to see everyone succeed, be their best, bring a winning kind of a culture to Las Vegas – to bring the Raiders back to glory. I’d love to be a part of it.

As a result, Brady will continue enjoying his retirement without the demands of training and the pressures that come with competing at the highest level.
