Tom Brady closer to hiring the Raiders’ new coach after carefully considered decision

The Las Vegas Raiders are nearing a decision on their next head coach, with Klint Kubiak emerging as the clear frontrunner to replace Pete Carroll.

Following a disastrous 2025 season that ended at 3 and 14 and firmly at the bottom of the NFL standings, the Raiders moved quickly to dismiss Carroll after just one year in charge.

Since then, the organisation has worked through an extended search process that now appears to be reaching its conclusion.

According to Jordan Schultz, Las Vegas held a second interview with Kubiak on Saturday, and the meeting was described as having gone “well.”

That second conversation has only strengthened the belief around the league that Kubiak is the preferred option in Las Vegas.

While the Raiders explored several high-profile alternatives earlier in the process, the focus has clearly shifted toward the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator as the franchise looks to establish stability after years of turnover on the sideline.

As previously reported, the Raiders and minority owner Tom Brady pursued John Harbaugh following his departure from Baltimore, before Harbaugh ultimately accepted a role with the New York Giants.

Once that option came off the board, Las Vegas pivoted decisively toward Kubiak.

Brady’s influence on head coach pick

Brady‘s involvement has become a defining subplot of the search. The seven-time Super Bowl champion, who holds a minority stake in the Raiders, has had a unique vantage point in evaluating Kubiak.

Brady called Seattle‘s final two games of the season for Fox, giving him a close look at how Kubiak‘s offence operates in real time and how players respond to it.

If the Raiders reach an agreement with Kubiak, the hire would not be immediate.

He remains part of the Seahawks staff through the Super Bowl, meaning Las Vegas would have to wait until the season officially concludes before bringing him in.

There is also growing expectation that Kubiak could bring other Seattle assistants with him, allowing the Raiders to install a more unified coaching staff rather than piecing one together.
