Tiger Woods resurfaces at White House amid recovery, TGL expansion, and high-profile romance

Tiger Woods has stayed largely out of the spotlight since his last PGA Tour appearance at the 2024 Hero World Challenge, where he competed before undergoing another back surgery.

The procedure-a microdecompression operation-took place in September 2024, and Woods has been in recovery ever since.

The 49-year-old offered fans a glimpse into his mindset shortly after the surgery, posting: “I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”

While his playing career remains paused, Woods has made headlines for another reason: his new relationship with Vanessa Trump.

The couple went public in late March, requesting privacy while their relationship unfolded.

The announcement drew immediate media attention-so much so that Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, shared a five-word message that summed up the mood: “Let them both be happy.”

Now, just days after that endorsement, Woods has made an unexpected visit to the White House. Senator Jim Banks confirmed the meeting, posting a photo on X with the caption: “Met @TigerWoods at the White House today!” For fans concerned about Woods‘ condition, the visit offered some reassurance that his recovery remains on track.

TGL expansion and LPGA rumors hint at Woods’ next big move

Though not competing, Woods remains deeply involved in golf’s future-particularly through TGL, the tech-infused simulator league he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. As McIlroy continues to promote his investment ventures, including a deal with TPG Sports, Woods has been quietly steering TGL’s expansion.

Earlier this week, journalist Josh Carpenter reported that TGL filed a trademark for “Motor City Golf Club”, paying $3,500 for the rights. This suggests TGL could be expanding beyond its flagship SoFi Center in Palm Beach, with Detroit emerging as a potential location for a new team or venue.

While no formal confirmation has been made, the filing adds momentum to the league’s national growth strategy.

TGL is also reportedly exploring greater inclusivity. LPGA stars such as Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang have publicly voiced interest in joining the league, and the idea seems to be gaining traction. Arthur M. Blank, owner of Atlanta Drive, said: “Potentially there will be gals involved, which would be great for the game.” Meanwhile, Alexis Ohanian, who owns LAGC, added: “They have been very interested. It’s just that these things take time, and I’m not allowed to make any news.”

These developments suggest Woods‘ focus has shifted from competition to innovation. While fans wait for his return to professional golf, his growing influence on the sport’s future is clear-both on and off the course.

Whether it’s building TGL into a nationwide platform or redefining personal milestones, Tiger Woods remains at the center of attention.
