Tiger Woods’ niece’s ordeal and the player’s invaluable help to assist his daughter Maya

Cheyenne Woods, professional golfer and niece of Tiger Woods, has shared a deeply personal story of resilience and gratitude after enduring one of the most challenging years of her life.

Away from the golf course, the LPGA star has been navigating a difficult period after her daughter, Maya, was diagnosed with a serious health condition shortly after birth.

Reflecting on the emotional turmoil of 2024, Cheyenne Woods admitted how the experience almost broke her spirit. “2024 nearly broke me, and it challenged me in ways I wasn’t prepared for, but we made it through. I am so grateful for all our family’s growth this year,” she wrote.

Maya‘s health scare began just eight weeks after her birth, when severe reflux and breathing complications forced the family to make the difficult decision of resorting to tube feeding.

The newborn struggled with weight gain, turning what should have been a joyous time into a relentless battle for health.

Tiger Woods’ support key to overcoming difficult months

Throughout the ordeal, Tiger Woods provided invaluable support to his niece, helping her stay strong for her young daughter. Cheyenne also expressed her heartfelt thanks to Dominique Grossman, a specialist who assisted Maya during her recovery journey.

Posting on Instagram, Woods shared, “Dominque has helped us SO much through our journey with Maya. So knowledgeable and passionate about helping moms and babies. So grateful to have found you.”

Thankfully, after months of struggle, Maya‘s condition has improved, allowing Cheyenne Woods to once again embrace life on the golf course. She recently shared a touching moment from Augusta National, taking her daughter on a Saturday morning golf outing, captioning the photo: “Saturday morning golf date .”

Despite her long absence from professional play, Cheyenne Woods revealed she has stayed connected to the game – often watching more golf than ever during her break from the tour. “I do miss Tour golf. I don’t necessarily miss the travel, but I do miss the competition. I watch a lot of golf. I watch more now than I probably ever have,” she told Golfweek.

A possible return to the course for Cheyenne Woods

Since stepping away from professional golf in 2021 following the birth of her first child, Cameron, Cheyenne Woods has prioritized family over competition. However, fans hoping for a comeback will be pleased to know that she has not announced any retirement plans.

In fact, Woods hinted at her desire to one day return to the course – not just for herself, but to show her children what their mother can do. “I would love for my kids to eventually be able to see what mom can do, what mom used to do,” she told Golfweek.

With two professional wins to her name – including the 2014 Volvik RACV Ladies Masters – Cheyenne Woods has already proven her talent runs deeper than her famous last name.

Now, with life settling down and her daughter’s health improving, fans may not have to wait long to see her teeing it up once again.
