Tiger Woods disappoints fans again with difficult decision after mother’s death

Tiger Woods seems to be making a very slow return to the sport after the death of his mother, with fans set to be disappointed again.

Many fans had wondered whether a comeback was on the cards at the Players Championship next week, but he has now admitted that his ‘heart is not really in practising’ right now.

Woods is a 15-time major champion but he has not played since The Open last summer. This is due to back surgery and the death of his mother.

Tiger Woods still not feeling good

Speaking after his Jupiter Links GC team were eliminated from the TGL indoor competition this week, the 49-year-old said: “This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed so I haven’t really gotten into it.

“My heart is really not into practising right now. I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things.

“Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”

In the wake of his mother’s death, Tiger made a brave decision to play in the upcoming 2025 Genesis Invitational, hoping that stepping back onto the course might offer a sense of normalcy and healing. Fans rallied behind him, with many encouraging Woods to “win for Kultida,” eager to see him triumph in the face of personal hardship.

However, as the days passed, the golf legend realized that the grief was still too overwhelming to ignore. Woods made the difficult announcement that he would be withdrawing from the event. He shared that he was “still processing a loss” and, in his words, could not continue with his original plan to play.
