An Oklahoma City Thunder-Washington Wizards clash turned chaotic Saturday night when a second-quarter scuffle spilled into the baseline stands, leaving four players ejected and fans momentarily caught in the fray.

With 27 seconds left in the half, Wizards forward Justin Champagnie and Thunder big man Jaylin Williams exchanged shoves under the basket.

The confrontation quickly escalated as teammates rushed in, knocking over a photographer and jostling nearby fans.

Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander helped diffuse the melee, pulling rookie Ajay Mitchell out of the scrum.

Four players ejected after escalation

After a lengthy review, officials assessed double technicals to Champagnie and Williams, triggering automatic ejections. Mitchell and Thunder guard Cason Wallace were also tossed for “escalating the altercation.”

Wizards forward Anthony Gill, who appeared involved, avoided punishment after referees ruled he was pushed into the fray. Crew chief John Goble later explained Gill “did nothing unsportsmanlike to assess a penalty.”

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault voiced frustration with the rulings, saying he “disagreed with their judgment” but ultimately moved on. The Wizards were awarded two free throws, yet Oklahoma City powered through the second half shorthanded, winning 132-111.

Thunder extend win streak despite losses

The victory marked the Thunder’s 11th straight win, reinforcing their Western Conference surge. For Washington, the loss extended a brutal skid to 15 consecutive defeats, underscoring the franchise’s ongoing struggles.

While the NBA may review the incident further, Saturday’s brawl highlighted both the intensity of the Thunder’s rise and the mounting frustration in Washington’s season.
