This is how Cuti Romero looked the day after his injury: bandaged and calm in the face of provocations

After it was reported that Cristian Romero had suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, he was spotted walking the streets of London, which brought some relief to fans.

The Argentine defender was seen wearing a sweatshirt and brown shorts paired with white sneakers, but what caught the most attention was, without a doubt, the bandage covering almost his entire leg-the one he injured while playing for Tottenham in the loss to Sunderland on Sunday, April 12.

Cuti walks and stays calm in the face of a provocative comment

In a video shared by @1echee on TikTok, the 27-year-old defender can be seen walking with a limp while using his cell phone. However, another detail that did not go unnoticed was his reaction to a comment intended to stir things up:

“Good luck in the Championship,” someone can be heard saying, referring to Tottenham’s precarious situation, as they remain in the relegation zone in 18th place in the table with 30 points.

Despite this, Romero continued walkingwithout responding or flinching at the provocation.

The match on Matchday 32 of the Premier League was already proving difficult for the Spurs, who lost 1-0, but Romero’s injury added even more pain.

In the 64th minute, Cuti tried to clear a ball in defense when he was shoved by opposing forward Brian Brobbey, causing his own goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky, to hit his knee with his head.

After undergoing medical tests, it was revealed that the defender suffered a lateral ligament injury in his right leg. This injury will require six to eight weeks of recovery, meaning he will not be able to finish the season with Spurs, but he should just make it in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

Argentina will enter the tournament as the defending champion with the clear goal of retaining the title it won in 2022. They will play their first match against Algeria on June 16 at Kansas City Stadium. Then, at Dallas Stadium, they will face Austria on Monday, June 22, and Jordan on Saturday, June 27.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have their sights set on their upcoming Premier League matches, which they will have to face without Cuti:

  • Tottenham vs Brighton: Saturday, April 18 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 12:30 PM ET.
  • Wolves vs Tottenham: Saturday, April 25 at Molineux Stadium at 10:00 AM ET.
  • Aston Villa vs Tottenham: Saturday, May 2 at Villa Park at 7:30 AM ET.

The season ends on May 24.
