Ja Morant has assured in London that there should be no doubt about his desire to continue playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. After a dominant performance in the win over the Orlando Magic (126-109) on British soil, the two-time All-Star addressed recent rumors pointing to his hypothetical trade.
“I got a logo on my back, so that should tell you exactly where I want to be,” said Morant, referring to a tattoo of the team’s logo. Morant contributed 24 points and 13 assists in the win over the Magic after missing the last six games with a right calf injury.

He even extended a hand to his team’s coach, Tuomas Iisalo, when analysing his team’s triumph in London: “It was the coach’s credit, he put us in the best positions possible and then, simply, me being Ja, I ended up making the right play, whether it was passing or scoring,” he said. “We got into a great rhythm early on, got a big lead, and after that, it’s just about controlling the game”.
Morant, 26, is earning $39.4 million this season in the third year of his five-year contract with the Grizzlies, for which he will pocket $197.2 million. Needless to say, any team wishing to acquire his services and reach an agreement with Memphis for his transfer would have to face that costly salary. An economic effort not within the reach of many teamsin the league.
