Benjamin Zarandona, a 49-year-old former footballer, has shed light on the much-discussed dinner that has been organised in London to meet Sheila Ebana, the mother of Lamine Yamal.
The event, called Football Fans Christmas Party, has been advertised with the message “don’t miss the chance to meet the mother of the world’s greatest footballer”.
Benjamin Zarandona, who played for Valladolid, Betis, Cadiz and Xerez during his career, revealed on the programme ‘El Larguero’ the genesis of this dinner.

“It’s an events company (JEN C Events) that tries to contact me because of the charity dinner I organise every year. This company contacted me and next year they want to decorate the charity dinner, because they do events and decorate things,” said the former footballer, who was capped 10 times by Equatorial Guinea.
Benjamin explained that “they (JEN C Events) see me that I am in a photo with Lamine Yamal’s mother, who you know that I have a very good friendship for many years because of the roots we have with Equatorial Guinea, and the company asks me if “could it be possible that we can bring Sheila Ebana (Lamine’s mother) at Christmas because in London”. I say “well, we’ll look at it and we’ll talk about it”… and that’s it”.

Benjamin Zarandona wanted to clarify that “it’s simply that they hire us to go to a dinner that they organize and in which they set the prices, and obviously they will want to amortize the dinner.”
The former footballer emphatically denied that Sheila Ebana was the organiser of the dinner in London: “Lamine Yamal’s mother doesn’t organise anything. She goes as a guest. Nothing more… Some things have been published that have surprised me. She goes as a guest.”

Sheila Ebana and Jen C have announced that, due to the success of the dinner, it has had to change hotels.
“We have exciting news! Due to requests for a more central location with better access to transport, the event is moving to a new venue! It will be held at The Leonardo Royal Hotel London City. The dinner will be on 7 November from 19:30 to 00:00. Important: All tickets are still valid for the new venue, you don’t need to do anything.
