The simple gesture of a 13-year-old boy that could trigger Juan Soto’s move to the Mets

Over the years, there has been much talk about the way Babe Ruth left the Boston Red Sox for the New York Yankees, because the then-owner of the Red Sox, Harry Frazee, needed the money to produce a play and sold him for $100,000 on January 5, 1920.

This was one of the most talked about chapters in baseball history, which attracted the so-called “Curse of the Bambino”, which saw the Red Sox not win a World Series between 1918 and 2004, and caused them to be the laughing stock of MLB for many decades.

Keeping proportions and without comparing the career of who is considered the best baseball player of all time, Juan Soto’s departure from the Yankees to the Mets, could be a new and modern story of how a team lets go of a player who can give you a championship, and not for the money, but for a fact that could be considered even shameful.

It seems that Juan Soto’s departure from the Bronx Bombers had nothing to do with a general manager, or a manager, or even a Broadway play… but with a child and a security guard.

The embarrassing story of the Yankee Stadium security guard

It is said that a security guard prohibited the Dominican’s family from accessing certain places at Yankee Stadium, and shortly afterwards, the stadium’s own security caused another unfortunate incident with comedian Chris Diestefno’s stepson.

It turns out that the 40-year-old comedian was a guest of the family of Steve Cohen, owner of the New York Mets, at a game against the Yankees at the home of the Bronx Bombers.

Diestefno took his 13-year-old stepson, who wanted to touch the sacred soil of Yankee Stadium, which caused hell.

Distephano recounted that: “I go down to the field with the family who own the Mets, we went to see a Yankees-Mets game at Yankee Stadium. I’m a guest of the Mets. It’s beautiful, we’re on the field and I love it. I’m with my stepson who is a big baseball fan and we’re having a great time.“Suddenly my stepson wants to touch the ground, but then the Yankees security runs, runs and starts yelling at my stepson,” Diestefno continued.

The Cohen family explained to the guard that they were with them, and apparently the guard also shouted at them, and then came the sincere gesture from Steve Cohen himself, who gave Distephno’s stepson a jar of dirt from Citi Field. Another Yankees blunder and another Mets victory!

If the Bronx Bombers really lost Juan Soto because of a security guard, maybe next time they should protect their roster better than the dirt on their infield.
