In the matchup between Mexico and the United States in the World Baseball Classic a few weeks ago, where Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh had a confrontation because the American pitcher did not return the greeting of the Mexican player, it now appears that everything has been left behind.
The Mexican player has publicly apologized to his teammate for the incident, which escalated significantly due to the reaction shown by the Aztec outfielder.
Once it became known that it was part of Team USA’s policy during the event, Raleigh chose not to exchange greetings with opponents before the first pitch was thrown.
How do you want me to respond to Cal Raleigh?
A fired-up Arozarena said in Spanish.
I want to tell him (expletive) you in four languages.
The following day, the Mariners player addressed the moment he experienced with his club teammate.
I love Randy, I do. I hate that this is a thing. There’s no beef. When we get back to Seattle, he’s my brother.
Arozarena publicly apologizes for his actions with teammate Raleigh
Through a statement released by the Mariners, the Mexican outfielder apologized to his teammate Cal Raleigh, putting any controversy aside before the start of the season.
I understand that with opening day a few days away, I don’t want it to be a distraction.”… “Cal and I have talked and I apologized for what I said after the game. Nothing in the WBC takes away from the fact that we are brothers and teammates.”
Arozarena said. Now both players have returned to their team, and everything appears to be back to normal between them.
It was really good walking in the door and seeing everybody.”… “As fun as (the WBC) was, it was nice to feel back here. It feels like the family’s all back together in a way.
