The nightmare facing Real Madrid and Arbeloa: Two consecutive defeats and Mbappé out

Real Madrid‘s current situation has taken a complete 180-degree turn after their latest defeat to Getafe in LaLiga (0-1), just when it seemed the crisis was finally over-the white team has been hit again and drifted further from the top of the Spanish league standings.

While Álvaro Arbeloa isn’t to blame-he arrived to try to fix what Xabi Alonso initially started-several matches have passed without any noticeable change or improvement. In fact, at this point in the season, there’s a real risk of a trophyless campaign for Los Blancos.

Eliminated from the Copa del Rey and second in LaLiga title race

Arbeloa has lost four of his first 12 games in charge of Real Madrid, and he can now say he’s experienced an elimination after being surprisingly knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Albacete in one of the season’s biggest upsets.

Meanwhile, in LaLiga, they currently sit second, four points behind Barcelona, who have regained the lead in the LaLiga standings-and unluckily for the coach, he can’t count on the player who has been his best performer to date.

Kylian Mbappé is sidelined indefinitely with a sprain in his left knee. While the team has plenty of great players, we can all agree that the French superstar makes winning much more likely and remains key to Real Madrid’s Champions League hopes.

Tougher times could be coming for Arbeloa and Real Madrid, as the Champions League Round of 16 knockout series against Manchester City-always dangerous in European competition-begins on March 11 and could see them eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

The big question is how long Florentino Pérez‘s patience will last-the Real Madrid president who was already booed by the Santiago Bernabéu crowd after the dismal result against Getafe, adding to the one against Osasuna, in a season marked by more failures than joys.
