The New York Mets face a crucial player injury before the start of the season: fracture and surgery!

Just as signings and moves between teams from free agency, this offseason injuries are also in the news, those ‘fallen soldiers’ who leave the exhaustive practices ahead of the new campaign of the Major Leagues.

This was Nick Madrigal’s injury

News is coming in from all the camps and some are not only more important, but also more widely covered, so the news from inside them travels faster and becomes a topic in all the media. Such is the case of theNew York Mets, a team that after the brutal contract of Juan Soto and the Pete Alonso drama was quiet until Thursday when there was an unfortunate event

The infielder Nick Madrigal was seriously injured during last Sunday’s spring training game between the Mets and the Washington Nationals, when in the third inning he attacked a ground ball off the bat of Luis Garcia Jr. from his shortstop position, threw forced to first and immediately winced in obvious pain.

Confirmed diagnosis and estimated time

Manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Friday that Madrigal needs surgery to repair his left shoulder. An MRI performed Monday revealed the severity of the injury, and Mendoza said at the time that Madrigal would likely be out for an extended period

The team immediately placed Madrigal on the 60-day injured list and acquired Alexander Canario from the Chicago Cubs, the team from which Madrigal hails, for cash considerations.

Madrigal was looking for a fresh start with the Mets, who signed him to a one-year contract in January after the Cubs non-tendered him following a season in which he hit just .221 in 51 games.
