Alperen Sengun, with another triple-double (33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists), had the tie in his hands, but his three-pointer was just an attempt.
It was a duel with 17 lead changes and 16 ties, in which Jamal Murray contributed 35 points for Denver and Kevin Durant 26 for the Rockets.
The Nuggets (19-6) and Rockets (16-7) are at the top of the West.
