The linebacker Cowboys would need in support of Dak Prescott and company to fill the void of Micah Parsons

The Cowboys have had one of the worst starts to the 2025 NFL season considering the stars they have and, above all, the millions they spend on their salaries. While it is still too early to say that the main cause of this has been the departure of Micah Parsons, it is true that the team urgently needs a linebacker to support the defense and give security to the offense led by Dak Prescott

Jerry Jones‘ team has lost two of its four games so far this season. It was the Philadelphia Eagles champions who beat Dallas 24-20 in the opening game; then, Cowboys got with New York Giants the one that would be -so far- their only victory to then fall to Bears and formulate a tie with the Packers, new team of the same Micah Parsons.

Sports Illustrated suggests Dallas go for Bradley Chubb

The Cowboys are in desperate need of a pass rusher, and Sports Illustrated may have a trade candidate in mind. As it stands today, Dallas ranks 28th in the NFL in sack percentage at 3.57 percent, ahead of only Philadelphia, Tennessee, Baltimore and Carolina. They also rank near the bottom of the NFL in total sacks with just five in four games.

However, Sports Illustrated has released a trade that could help change the Cowboys’ quarterback pressure fortunes, without giving up one of their coveted four first-round picks in the next two seasons, in a move that would send a fifth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for the No. 5 overall pick, Bradley Chubb.

Chubb has been one of the best sack artists in the NFL since he entered the league in 2018, racking up 39.5 sacks in his first seven seasons. He has also been solid this season, getting home with three sacks, three tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in four games this season. He is also a two-time Pro Bowler.

Jonathan Mingo returned to practice with Dallas

In other Dallas Cowboys news, the Cowboys received a much-needed boost to their struggling offense with the official return of wide receiver Jonathan Mingo to practice. The team activated the 24-year-old’s 21-day practice window on Wednesday, meaning the former second-round pick is one step closer to rejoining the active roster.

I’m very excited to have him back…

Mingo had been sidelined since the preseason after suffering a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The timing of his return could not be better. With the team’s star receiver CeeDee Lamb out with an ankle sprain, the Cowboys’ aerial attack is in dire need of reinforcements.

The Cowboys now have 21 days to assess Mingo’s fitness before having to activate him to the 53-man roster. If not activated, the receiver will move to the injured reserve list for the remainder of the season. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his excitement at the player’s return, saying: “I’m really excited to have Jonathan back on the field… He’s been working incredibly hard in the boardroom.”
