It was supposed to be just another routine play on the gridiron, but Jaguars punter Logan Cooke completely lost control and left Tennessee Titans running back Julius Chestnut with a deeply unsettling experience. Both players had been trading heated encounters throughout the game, and at one point, the tension finally ignited, escalating into something far more serious than a typical scuffle.
According to the Titans player, the Jaguars punter went as far as issuing a death threat.
I don’t know why the punter did that, I was just trying to play hard, and he came up to me and said he was going to kill me.
Chestnut said, adding:
So, I don’t know what made him do that.

Throughout the final quarter, both players continued provoking each other and even exchanged punches. By then, the game offered little in terms of competition, with Florida’s team already dismantling the Titans 25-3. Barely a minute into the fourth quarter, after Cooke sent a punt downfield, Chestnut dramatically knocked him to the ground. The punter was later taken for a concussion evaluation, according to ESPN.
Pandemonium erupted after Cooke’s second punt
The tension had already been set, ready to escalate. So when Cooke lined up for his next punt, things once again spiraled out of control. Chestnut collided with another Jaguars teammate, but Cooke appeared to intentionally seek him out, and once they met, chaos followed.
The 5-foot-11, 228-pound Chestnut grabbed the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Cooke, and the two began clutching jerseys and exchanging shoves as teammates scrambled to pull them apart and put an end to the situation.
Officials responded by throwing multiple flags, unloading a series of penalties against both teams. Cooke was hit with unnecessary roughness, while four additional penalties were assessed, including the ejection of Titans player Mike Brown.
I don’t think it was any frustration.”… “I think it was just us playing hard and me and the other guy was playing hard and I think he just wanted something to say, honestly, I have no idea.
Chestnut said.
I was just playing hard, he came up to me. I don’t know what made him do that. Might have been a couple plays before and I made a block on him, I don’t know what made him want to do that. That was surprising to me, I ain’t never seen nothing like that before.
Eventually, calm returned as the game wound down and both teams headed to their respective locker rooms. The Jaguars walked away pleased with a convincing victory, while the Titans continue searching for direction in a difficult season.
