Raiders lower asking price for Maxx Crosby: Will the Cowboys seal the deal?

The possibility of a blockbuster move involving Maxx Crosby continues to fuel debate across the NFL, but the Las Vegas Raiders appear determined not to make it easy for any interested suitor, including the Dallas Cowboys.

Speculation around Crosby‘s future intensified in recent weeks as multiple reports suggested teams have inquired about the star edge rusher.

While Dallas has emerged as one of the franchises frequently linked to the All-Pro defender, the Raiders have signaled they are willing to keep their defensive cornerstone unless an overwhelming offer arrives.

According to reports circulating during the early stages of the offseason, Las Vegas has set a steep asking price for Crosby.

NFL insider Adam Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show, “I don’t expect the price to go down much [on Maxx Crosby].”

Schefter added, “I think the Raiders would be prepared to keep Maxx Crosby if they don’t get the price they want.”

That stance reflects how valuable Crosby remains to the franchise. Since entering the league in 2019, the relentless pass rusher has developed into one of the NFL‘s most disruptive defenders, combining high sack totals with constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks. His presence has also made him one of the most recognizable leaders within the Raiders‘ locker room.

Still, trade chatter has persisted, and the Cowboys are often mentioned in those conversations. Dallas has been searching for ways to strengthen its defensive front, and adding a player of Crosby‘s caliber would instantly reshape the unit.

Fan reactions explode as speculation spreads

While no deal appears imminent, the idea of Crosby potentially landing in Dallas has already captured the imagination of fans across social media.

One moment that fueled the speculation came when Crosby shared on his Instagram story a short video referencing a “Cowboy,” prompting fans to connect the clip to Dallas jokingly. The reaction was immediate, with supporters quickly turning the moment into a rallying cry for a trade.

At the same time, the Raiders have consistently emphasized the value of keeping elite players in their building. General manager John Spytek recently underscored that perspective while discussing the team’s roster philosophy.

“Maxx is an elite player,” Spytek said. “I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them. And it’s hard to build a great team without elite players.”

That sentiment helps explain why Las Vegas appears comfortable waiting rather than rushing into a trade.

For the Cowboys, the situation presents a familiar dilemma. Dallas has not shied away from bold roster decisions in recent seasons, but acquiring a player like Crosby would likely require a significant package of draft picks and possibly additional assets.

Reports have indicated the Raiders could demand multiple first-round selections for the defender, a price that would force any interested team to weigh short-term impact against long-term roster flexibility.
