The home run record Aaron Judge is chasing in 2026

What Aaron Judge is doing is no longer up for discussion: his numbers put him in a dimension reserved for the greatest of all time. In the middle of the 2026 season, the New York Yankees captain once again wrote his name in the history books with a performance that confirms his absolute dominance.

An exclusive club with a historical flavor

With his recent display against the Chicago White Sox, Judge reached – and surpassed – the 50-home run mark in a season once again. With this, he reached four campaigns with at least 50 home runs, a mark that puts him alongside legendary names such as Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa.

However, there is a key caveat: Judge is the only one of that group whose production is not tied to the steroid era, which further elevates the value of his feat in the current context of baseball.

Total domination in a different era

The outfielder stands out not only for his power. Since 2022, his offensive performance has been simply off the charts, combining average, on-base percentage and slugging at levels that separate him from the rest of the league.

Even compared to figures such as Shohei Ohtani, the difference in offensive production has been remarkable in several recent stretches. At a time when pitchers’ velocity forces many hitters to choose between contact and power, Judge has shown he can master both aspects.

The race for MVP heats up

The American’s level keeps him as one of the main candidates for the MVP award, in a dispute that has as a great rival Cal Raleigh, catcher for the Seattle Mariners.

Raleigh leads in some departments such as home runs and runs batted in, but Judge makes up for it with a more complete offensive output. The fight is so close that even the bookmakers reflect a technical tie between the two.

A historic season for home run hitters

Judge’s impact is also part of a broader phenomenon. The season has seen multiple players surpass 50 home runs, including the likes of Ohtani and Kyle Schwarber.

This offensive upturn has not been seen since the early 2000s, but with one fundamental difference: it is now occurring in an era of stricter doping controls, which reinforces the value of each record.

The leader who pushes the Yankees

Beyond the individual, Judge has also been key to the Yankees staying in the American League East race, competing directly with teams like the Toronto Blue Jays.

His leadership and offensive production have allowed the team to remain in the playoff conversation, with an eye on a return to the World Series.

A legacy that continues to grow

At this point, it’s not just about a great season. Judge is building a legacy.

His numbers put him in a conversation that transcends generations, in an era where baseball demands more than ever. And as long as he continues to produce at this level, each swing will continue to bring him closer to a place reserved only for legends.
