The conflict of the WNBA players with the CBA will not change Caitlin Clark: “I don’t think she will take on that tactic”

In the middle of the ongoing tensions between the players and the future Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), all eyes are on the superstars and what they have to say in this regard. With the WNBA season set to start on May 8, the league is undergoing a marathon of meetings to reach an agreement before everything gets trickier.

As one of the most important faces of the organization, Caitlin Clark’s opinion and take on this case is heavily important. Despite entering her just third season, the Indiana Fever star already has the weight of an entire industry’s expectations on her shoulders. Yet, some insiders suggest that even though she has the power to move mountains, is unlikely the she uses her massive platform to disrupt the established leadership of the union.

“When she speaks, people listen”

Despite the noise coming from the outside, the closest insiders to the current negotiations believe that Clark will stick to her playstyle regardless of the final agreement. Yahoo Sports’Annie Costabile recently said that the idea that Clark would “go rogue” to force the league’s hand is wrong:

“Caitlin is the face of the league. She has power. When she speaks, people listen. But she’s also a very calculated person when she does speak

She also claimed that the people in charge of the WNBPA are not necessarily asking Clark to support them. For Clark, the idea of playing a role that does not belong to her seems out of character. Costabile said:

“I don’t think that is a tactic that seems like one Caitlin would ever take on

All eyes on May 8

Leaving all this case aside, Clark is mainly focused on the league return. After her 2025 season ended prematurely in September, she is eager to come back to the court. She is desperate to feel those chills again and it is 100% her personal priority.

However, she cannot ignore what is going on in the offices. As other WNBA stars, Clark has expressed confidence that a deal would be reached between the parts, describing it as one of the biggest moments for women’s sports.

The truth is that if the CBA passes, not only Clark’s bank account would change; the entire landscape of professional women’s basketball will experience a full shift.
