The big difference between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s visit to the White House with Donald Trump

Inter Miami‘s visit to the White House generated both positive and negative comments. The main focus was on Leo Messi, who was somewhat questioned in Argentina, but applauded in the United States. This visit was compared to the one made by Cristiano Ronaldo a few months ago when he went to see Donald Trump for an event outside of soccer and comparisons with the Argentine were not long in coming.

The impact of Messi’s visit was noticeable, both for Inter Miami and for Trump’s government. The event took place in the framework of the reception of the 2025 champion team, something that always happens, but in this case it was the best player in the world, so everything was even bigger and comparisons of all kinds were generated.

The difference between Messi and CR7’s visit

It turns out that on social networks, a fan account of Messi on X published a comparison between what was the visit of Ronaldo and Messi to the White House, where the activity on social networks of each player after the meeting was what caught the attention.

In the post, it is shown that after the meeting, Ronaldo made two posts on his social media about the visit to Trump, while Messi did not make any, showing that his interest is in other types of activities.

Another thing that stood out in this comparison was that Messi’s visit was with his team and was due to sporting reasons, while Ronaldo was part of the Saudi prince’s delegation, something more political.

Inter Miami’s gifts to the White House and Trump

Inter Miami’s meeting with Trump at the White House gave much to talk about, however, one of the things that caught the most attention were the gifts that the club brought to the President of the United States.

The first gift to Trump was a soccer ball presented by Lionel Messi, then Jorge Mas, one of the club’s owners, gave the president a jersey with the number 47 on it, due to his chronology in the U.S. presidency.

The best gift of all was delivered by Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami’s coach, who gave Trump a piece from the Tudor brand (Rolex’s sister brand and Inter Miami’s official sponsor), which was a watch worth around $6,000.
