Terry Bradshaw gives his opinion about Jerry Jones’s decision to trade Micah Parsons

The blockbuster trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers sent shockwaves through the NFL just days before the Cowboys’ season opener. Amid the fallout, legendary quarterback turned analyst Terry Bradshaw defended the decision on FOX NFL Sunday, offering a rare perspective in support of the controversial franchise move.

Bradshaw explains the rationale

On national television, Bradshaw made his stance clear: “I think Jerry Jones did the right thing. I don’t blame them one bit. I would’ve unloaded him.” He cited cap flexibility as a key benefit, adding that the Cowboys immediately acquired two more first round draft picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Bradshaw highlighted that Jones “is sitting in the driver’s seat,” emphasizing the ownership’s control over its roster decisions without having to answer to external authority.

Trade could pay long term

Bradshaw wasn’t alone in seeing upside. Analysts note that Parsons, despite his elite production, was coming off a contract standoff and likely to demand top tier money. An expenditure the Cowboys could ill afford after extending key players like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

By trading him, Dallas gained financial flexibility and valuable draft capital, laying the groundwork to rebuild its defense with multiple contributors rather than relying on one superstar.
