American fighter Terence Crawford knows that in order to beat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in their fight on September 12 in Las Vegas, he will have to put all his great boxing skills on the line, which is why he is considered one of the best in the world of pugilism.

The Mexican is the current undisputed super middleweight champion, and the fight will take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. For almost seven years, Canelo has competed in and dominated the 168-pound division, but now Crawford will attempt to make a historic debut in that weight class.

The last time Bud Crawford was involved in a historic fight was in July 2023, when he took on then WBC, WBA and IBF unified world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr., recalled BoxingNews24.com.

Crawford’s wide dominance over Spence

In the second round, Crawford knocked Spence down with a powerful jab and after going down, Spence tried to attack, but every time he tried Crawford landed strong counter punches.

Throughout the fight, Crawford’s footwork, timing and punch placement were impeccable. Two minutes from the end of the seventh round, Spence was attacking his opponent when Crawford landed a right uppercut on a counter-attack that sent Spence to the canvas for the second time.

At the end of the seventh round, Crawford knocked Spence down for the third time with a strong right hook. At the end of the ninth round, Crawford landed a flurry of heavy blows that forced the referee to step in and stop the fight.

With that victory, Crawford made history by becoming the first boxer to win the undisputed world title in two divisions.

Crawford seeks third undisputed title in three different categories

Currently, Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) finds himself in a similar situation as he is about to face a renowned pound-for-pound boxer.

With a victory, Crawford would make history by becoming the first male boxer to achieve an undisputed title in a third division. Those who oppose Terence Crawford believe that since he will have to move up two divisions to face Canelo, weight will be a determining factor.

During his interview with The W.A.D.E Concept, Crawford gave an example that weight is not an issue.

“Tyson Fury was the more imposing fighter, and the bigger fighter, and he didn’t win either fight,” Crawford said.

He is an ambidextrous fighter with a high ring IQ, footwork, hand speed and power, and an excellent counterpuncher.

Crawford has the skills to beat Canelo, but the big question is: how will he respond to Canelo’s aggressiveness and power?

The fight against Canelo is historic for Crawford, and during his interview, he spoke about the significance of a victory.

“It would mean everything. It will be everything I worked hard for my whole career, to go out there on that night, that boxing night, where everybody got to see the great Terence Crawford do something unheard of and unthinkable”.
