Teoscar Hernandez rediscovers his best form just in time for the Dodgers

The Dodgers‘ 2025 season has been full of big names like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, but in this postseason, a player who doesn’t usually make the headlines has stolen the spotlight. Teoscar Hernandez, with his characteristic cold approach, is quietly building one of the most impressive Octobers for the Los Angeles team.

After signing a three-year, $66 million extension, Hernandez has wasted no time in justifying his salary. His offensive contribution has been constant and timely, but what has been most surprising is his ability to respond when the team is on the ropes. In Game 1 against Philadelphia, he proved it again with one swing, three runs and a silenced stadium.

Teoscar Hernandez: From secondary figure to Dodgers postseason impact weapon

It’s not just one good game, Teoscar Hernandez has been the Dodgers’ most productive player in their first three playoff games with three home runs and nine RBIs. It’s a historic pace, according to Opta STATS, he is the first player to achieve those numbers in his team’s first three postseason games and he has done so without the noise that accompanies superstars.

The Dominican is proving that his value does not depend on spectacular plays but on consistency under pressure. While Ohtani attracts the spotlight and Freeman is the face of veteran leadership, Teoscar is earning a place as the piece that balances the offensive scales. A guy who shows up when his team needs him most.

Teoscar Hernandez and the challenge of being reliable in a team of stars

In a roster full of talent, standing out is not easy, as many players with solid numbers go unnoticed, especially when they share a uniform with three MVPs. But Hernandez’s performance goes beyond statistics, he has been the man who responds when the narrative of the game seems lost. He did it in the seventh inning of Game 1, with two outs and the possibility of letting the moment pass and turned an opportunity into an advantage.

In addition, he does so after weeks in which his defense has been under scrutiny. Dave Roberts made it clear that he needs to improve in right field. But instead of sinking, Hernandez has responded where big ballplayers are measured.

As the playoffs progress, the Dodgers need more than talent, they need character and this is where Teoscar Hernandez is raising his hand as one of the most reliable pillars in the postseason.
