Super Bowl 2026 Gatorade Color Odds: What to Bet on This Year

The “Gatorade shower” has become one of the most iconic Super Bowl traditions. Beyond the outcome of the game, thousands of fans and bettors closely follow the moment when the winning coach is doused with the sports drink, giving rise to one of the most popular prop bets of the event.

For Super Bowl 60, the odds on the color of the Gatorade are already generating debate, even though the official odds have yet to be published. However, early markets and recent history offer interesting clues.

Gatorade color probabilities

According to the latest available odds, yellow/green appears as the clear favorite at -167, followed by purple (+185). Further back are orange (+500), red/pink (+1400) and blue (+1500). The least likely options are clear liquid or water (+2500) and no Gatorade poured (+3000).

In Super Bowl 57, yellow or green was already leading as the favorite from the morning of the game and ended up winning after the Philadelphia Eagles victory, when Nick Sirianni was bathed in that color.

Colors that have marked history

Since Super Bowl 35, the color orange leads the way with five appearances, followed by purple, blue, yellow, clear liquid and the absence of Gatorade, all with four. Purple had a recent dominance by appearing in Super Bowls 57 and 58 with the Kansas City Chiefs, while blue has been a recurring surprise in three of the last seven Super Bowls.

The orange flavor, in addition to being one of the most popular, has been linked to several NFC champions, such as Mike McCarthy’s Packers and Sean Payton’s Saints.

What is the Gatorade color bet?

The Gatorade color prop bet is not related to the score or player performance. It simply involves predicting what color drink will be poured over the winning coach. Depending on the color chosen and the odds in play, the payout can be considerably higher than in a traditional bet.

The tradition was born in 1984, when defensive lineman Jim Burt threw Gatorade over then-New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells. Two years later, during the 1986 Super Bowl season, Parcells was soaked on multiple occasions, cementing the ritual that is now an essential part of the spectacle.

Trends and warnings for bettors

Historically, betting on the color of Gatorade based on the team’s uniform colors has been a bad strategy. Since 2001, only three times has the color of the Gatorade matched the scheme of the championship team.

History suggests that logic does not always win in this bet, which keeps the excitement and superstition alive in every Super Bowl.
