Steve Kerr broke his silence after the heated altercation with Draymond Green in Warriors-Magic

The Golden State Warriors beat the Orlando Magic 120-97 during Monday night’s home game, leaving their record at 15-15.

However, the team’s dominance and victory weren’t the only things that caught the attention, as the altercation between Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr also gave people something to talk about. Now, it was the 60-year-old who weighed in on the matter.

Kerr explained his argument with Green

During a third-quarter timeout with 8:31 remaining, the Warriors coach and veteran forward drew attention by engaging in a heated argument on the bench.

This caused the 35-year-old center, who had been playing for 18 minutes and had scored 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, to storm off to the locker room and not return to the court. Brandin Podziemski replaced Green.

After the game, it was the coach himself who offered his version of events and gave his opinion on the matter. Downplaying their argument, Kerr said:

“We need Draymond. He’s a champion. We’ve been together for a long time… It’s unfortunate that it happened, but it happened,” Kerr said, via Brett Siegel, NBA insider for ClutchPoints.

“We got into it, obviously. We had it out a little bit and he made his decision to go back to the locker room and cool off… That’s all I’m going to say about it. Everything is private,” Kerr concluded.

Meanwhile, after Green’s departure, the team managed to recover and come back to win the game, leaving the Magic behind by more than 20 points. Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Moses Moody were the Warriors’ top scorers with 26, 21, and 20 points, respectively.

Although the argument has taken up much of the fans’ attention, Kerr’s statement makes it clear that the details and reasons for their altercation will not be made public.

Meanwhile, the Warriors will host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, December 25, at the Chase Center in San Francisco, although it is unknown whether Green’s behavior will result in retaliation in this game.
