Stephen Curry left stunned as Moses Moody suffers gruesome injury

The Golden State Warriors’137-131 overtime victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night should have been a celebration for most of the players. Instead, the happiness was overshadowed by a collective silence that left the NBA world, and specifically Stephen Curry, in a state of visible, raw disbelief.

With just 58 seconds remaining in the extra period at the American Airlines Center, the atmosphere shifted completely. Moses Moody, who had just returned from a 10-game hiatus due to a wrist injury, fell victim to a non-contact knee injury so severe it was described as “gruesome” by those on the sidelines.

The moment the entire Arena went silent

The 23-year-old wing, who had already racked up 23 points, recorded a clutch steal from Mavericks standout rookie Cooper Flagg. With the court wide open, Moody sprinted for what appeared to be an easy breakaway dunk to seal the game. But as he prepared to lift off, the worst thing happened. His left knee buckled under him in a violent, non-contact motion.

Moody collapsed to the floor, sliding several feet off the court as his knee appeared to catch on the hardwood. The immediate visual image was enough to silence the entire stadium and put the game on hold.

“It sure looked bad”

Despite the win, the Warriors’ locker room felt like a funeral. Head coach Steve Kerr was visibly shaken during his post-game press conference, his hands often covering his face. He admitted:

“We don’t know what it is yet, but it sure looked bad. Everybody on the floor was just horrified. Players know how fragile this business is… We’re just praying it’s not as serious as it looked

Draymond Green was seen crouching beside the stretcher, offering words of comfort to Moody before he was taken off the court. Later, Green echoed the team’s sentiment:

“I just feel for Mo, man. He’s a pro’s pro

Stephen Curry also in shock

While the 20,000 spectators gasped in unison, the most poignant image of the night was situated on the Warriors’ bench. Stephen Curry, currently sidelined with his own knee issues, was captured by cameras in a state of utter disbelief.

Sitting next to teammate Brandin Podziemski, Curry was seen with his hands on his head, staring at the floor in a trance-like state. As the medical staff rushed to Moody’s side, Curry stood still, eventually burying his head in his hands.

As the team flies back to San Francisco for an MRI, the surprise on Stephen Curry’s face remains the defining image of a night where a victory felt like a devastating loss.
