The legal situation of Stefon Diggs, the star wide receiver for the New England Patriots, has taken a new turn after the identity of the alleged victim who is formally accusing him of strangulation and assault was revealed.
Who is Stefon Diggs’ alleged victim?
According to court documents filed in Dedham District Court, the alleged victim is a private chef who worked for Diggs from July 2025. The woman had been hired to provide her services throughout the season, but decided to leave her employment after the incident she reported to authorities.
According to information released by TMZ Sports, the chef went to the police on December 16 to report an alleged altercation that occurred on December 2 at the player’s residence. In her statement, she said that Diggs entered her room, which was unlocked, to discuss a wage dispute that the two were having via text messages.
The complainant claimed that during the conversation Diggs became upset and slapped her, before attempting to strangle her by placing his arm around her neck, causing her to have difficulty breathing and feel as if she might lose consciousness. She then claimed that she was thrown onto the bed before Diggs left the scene.
The woman said she developed redness on her upper chest, although she did not take photographs of the injuries. She also explained that she was initially reluctant to report the player’s status as a public figure in the NFL.
What caused the argument between Stefon Diggs and his chef?
The chef pointed out that her contract contemplated weekly payments, which were modified to a monthly scheme, accumulating at least one month’s salary owed at the time of the incident. She also claimed that Stefon Diggs refused to pay her for a week worked in November on the grounds that her services were not required, something she claims she did not request. After she stopped working for the player, she indicated that an assistant offered to cover the outstanding payment in exchange for signing a confidentiality agreement, a proposal she decided to reject.
Although without official confirmation of her identity, the alleged victim claimed to have received messages and a voicemail from a woman she identified as the player’s girlfriend, in which she was asked not to “make a big deal” of the situation. The police document clarifies that it is not established whether this person was actually Cardi B, but this claim has added media attention to the case due to the artist’s public exposure.
While the legal process unfolds, the NFL and the New England Patriots remain attentive to a case that continues to develop and could have both sporting and legal repercussions.
