Shohei Ohtani’s home run drills kid in the face

Shohei Ohtani has become a global icon for a reason. Whether he’s on the mound striking out the league’s best or crushing pitches into the bleachers, the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar always brings a mix of power, precision, and grace. But no one, especially not Ohtani himself, expected one of his home runs to end the way it did in this resurfaced clip that’s making waves online again.

During what seemed like a typical game season, Ohtani stepped up to the plate and delivered one of his trademark bombs. Fans in the outfield jumped at the chance to catch the souvenir, hoping to claim a piece of history from the Japanese phenom. But what was supposed to be a joyful moment quickly turned tense, as the ball veered into an area packed with eager fans and struck a young boy directly in the face.

That home run came with consequences

While everyone was watching the ball’s majestic arc, few noticed the child standing near the path of the 433-foot shot. The exit velocity? A blistering 112 mph. The crowd tried to make a play on it, but the ball slipped through several hands before landing with painful precision on the young fan’s head. The scene shocked onlookers and reminded everyone just how dangerous a flying baseball can be, even when hit by a player fans adore.

The video comes from last season’s Dodgers win over the Arizona Diamondbacks but has resurfaced on social media, drawing renewed attention. What’s comforting is that the Dodgers organization reportedly responded quickly. The young fan received team merchandise, got invited for a special on field experience, and was personally checked on by stadium staff.

This season alone, Ohtani is batting over .320 with an OPS north of 1.000, ranking among the league leaders in home runs and RBIs. His impact goes beyond stats. Ohtani is shaping the future of baseball as both a pitcher and a slugger, redefining what’s possible on the field.

While the moment was scary, it thankfully didn’t result in serious injury. And for one young fan, what started as a painful moment turned into a story he’ll probably tell for the rest of his life about the time he took a hit from a Shohei Ohtani home run and got the ultimate fan experience in return.
