Shohei Ohtani’s former teammate highlights Dodgers player’s process and hopes for early return

The baseball world and the entire Dodgers environment is still waiting for the situation of Shohei Ohtani, who suffered a shoulder injury and after undergoing surgery, it is still expected that he can return to the mound. In fact, the excitement increased with the statements of manager Dave Roberts, who said that there is a possibility greater than zero.

The Japanese Dodgers player is working tirelessly on his recovery and what he has shown in training is quite exciting. “It’s tempting. I’m sure Shohei is tempted to rip the bandage off and get into a game, but I think we’re doing a good job of trying to be patient,” Roberts added of one of his top stars.

Ohtani has not had a good time with injuries. Since 2018 he has been struggling with various physical problems and these have not left him alone to date. The Japanese is one of the best players in the Dodgers and they know it well in the team, as they can not wait to be able to count on their player 100% and relive better times.

A second opinion

Who also decided to talk about Ohtani’s situation was the baseball player and former teammate of the Japanese, Justin Upton, who in conversation with the Diggin’Deep podcast, valued the day to day of the Japanese. “You really can’t appreciate Shohei unless you see him every day. His routine is crazy,” he said

In addition, Upton added that “when he’s doing both, when he’s not injured pitching, his day is crazy. And for him to be able to take that load and be the best baseball player… I don’t think we’ll see it again in our lifetime.”

Despite the good words dedicated to Ohtani and how good he looks, it is possible that he will not return to the mound until 2026, but with his perseverance, who knows if he will manage to do it sooner.

The Dodgers need Ohtani

While the Dodgers don’t want to rush things and hope Ohtani recovers well, an early return wouldn’t be a bad thing considering the rotation problems they’ve been having. It’s a fact that the team has a very good roster, but injuries have played havoc with them and at the moment they have nothing to spare.

A possible return of Ohtani would ease things up a bit and help the Dodgers have more options with the pitchers, where they have suffered the most absences and perhaps the Japanese, ahead of time, could receive the emergency call.
