Shohei Ohtani got tired of losing and now he can build a dynasty with the Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to win the World Series for the second year in a row and for the first time in 25 years there are repeat champions. During Game 7 of the 2025 Fall Classic between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays, nine innings were not enough after Miguel Rojas’ equalizer when the Californian team was down to its last two outs and with Shohei Ohtani in the on-deck circle, who looked anxious for his team to continue competing to stay at the top of MLB.

The Japanese star spent six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, where he won awards and broke records, but collective victory never came, he did not play any postseason games so he looked for new challenges and the opportunity of the Dodgers came, being very attractive for a team that is used to fight for the leadership of its division and for the World Series.

Magic Johnson and the winning mentality at the Los Angeles Dodgers

In his new home (from 2024), Shohei Ohtani found a different culture and identity; Magic Johnson, NBA legend and one of the team’s owners, recalled his achievements through X:

18 championship rings for me! NCAA Championship with MSU, 11 with the Lakers (5 playing, 5 as owner and 1 as executive), 1 with LA Sparks, 1 with LAFC, 1 with Team Liquid, and now 3 with the Dodgers!

The franchise structure with leaders such as Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman and an experienced manager like Dave Roberts has become the ideal environment for a team that has been in the Fall Classic in recent years, always fighting at the top and now winning two consecutive rings, aiming to be one of the most dominant dynasties in MLB.

The dream of the new dynasty: Dodgers want to emulate the New York Yankees

The Dodgers are not satisfied with their second consecutive World Series win, as they are already planning for the 2026 season where they will look to continue fighting at the top and with a more ambitious goal of repeating the last great Major League Baseball dynasty when the New York Yankees won three consecutive years (1998, 1999 and 2000)

However, next season will not be easy, especially in a division that includes the San Diego Padres, a team that has been competing more closely with them lately and with which a new rivalry is being created. However, with Ohtani healthy and returning to his previous level on the mound, the Dodgers are once again shaping up to be the number one contender to repeat as champions, becoming a dynasty that has already made its mark on Major League Baseball with talents such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.
