Shedeur Sanders delivers a strong blow to his haters during Pro Bowl preparations

When all the attention was expected to focus solely on the Super Bowl -which looks very intriguing on paper with the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots- the spotlight once again shifted to Shedeur Sanders, quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, who wrapped up his season in Week 17 of the NFL with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The situation unfolded after the Patriots secured their playoff spot, causing Drake Maye to be automatically removed from the Pro Bowl roster. To everyone’s surprise, his spot was taken by Shedeur Sanders. Clearly, Sanders does not have Pro Bowl-level numbers, but what he does have is star power-a strong media presence that has already begun generating buzz and clicks for the event.

Shedeur Sanders made just seven starts with the Browns, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions. Without a doubt, he was Cleveland’s best quarterback this season, but statistically far from being considered a true Pro Bowler. Still, the decision was made, and the former Colorado Buffaloes standout will take part in the events leading up to the Super Bowl.

Shedeur Sanders spends time with Flag Football kids

Since 2023, the Pro Bowl has no longer been a traditional tackle football game. The NFL has explored multiple ways to make it more appealing and ultimately transformed it into a flag football event, aimed at reducing injury risks and increasing entertainment value. This season’s Pro Bowl will take place on Tuesday, February 3, in San Francisco, specifically at the Moscone Center.

Shedeur Sanders has already joined the AFC team and is one of the most in-demand players for autographs and photos. The Cleveland Browns quarterback also took time to interact with children participating in flag football tournaments, who were thrilled by the opportunity to meet him.

There is no doubt that Shedeur Sanders, fairly or unfairly, has made history for the Cleveland Browns. He is the first quarterback from the franchise to attend the Pro Bowl since Derek Anderson in 2008, ending a drought of more than 17 years without a Cleveland quarterback at the event.

After the Pro Bowl, Shedeur Sanders will need to shift his focus to the 2026 season, as the Browns now have Todd Monken as their head coach and major changes ahead. The quarterback competition will include Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabriel, though Monken could have other plans in mind. Another Browns storyline is sure to unfold during the preseason and the start of free agency.
